SoundForms - Collaborative music interface
Soundforms is a tangible interface for collaborative musical composition with everyday objects. The shapes and size of objects are used as simple icons for controlling sound output, affording a playful interface for people to experiment together in a short sound composition. This demo shows the modes of the application in action. Authored by Seth Hunter and Pol Pla at the MIT Media Lab.
Soundforms is an interface for collaborative musical composition by Seth Hunter and Pol Pla. It is one of the most interesting uses of object recognition on a surface interface I've seen.
I love seeing new interfaces being applied to music, it's like being introduced to a new instrument for the very first time. It makes me want to jump on and play with it and see what I can make.
What's great is that it's so simple and it just makes sense. The visual cues are fantastic and I love all the different variations available - time based, trigger based & scanner. The collaborative nature of it is also a great feature.
Let me know if you guys see any more music related interfaces!
